Code of Conduct

Warnham Parish Council have adopted a new local Code of Conduct dealing with the conduct that is expected of members and co-opted members of the Council under the Localism Act 2011 section 27(2). This Code replaces the code of conduct previously adopted by the Council under the Local Government Act 2000.

 

The new Code, which took effect on 1 July 2012, applies to all members and co-opted members with voting rights of the Council.

The Localism Act and the Code provides that councillors who have a Disclosable Pecuniary Interest (as defined in the Code) in any business being discussed by the council, may not participate in, or vote on, that business and that they must withdraw from the meeting room unless they have received a dispensation from the council. Warnham parish council has adopted a Dispensation Scheme which can be viewed here
